Vice President - Commodities Middle Office

The VP of Commodities Middle Office is a senior management level position responsible for managing the Middle Office team in Houston, as well as working to globally streamline the Middle Office teams in London and Belfast. The overall objective of this role is to oversee the end-to-end BAU tasks (from trade booking to operations), managing day to day risk, and helping to drive strategic projects and process improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and improve group processes, reports, and risk systems either directly or through IT collaboration.
- Partner with IT to improve controls and reports relevant to Middle Office processes.
- Work closely with Front Office, Structuring, Financial Control, Operations and Technology to ensure trades are accurately captured and processed through the risk systems.
- Provide analytical support to Front Office Sales and Trading and act as an advisor or coach to new or junior staff
- Maintain position records relating to trade processing functions
- Support trade capture management, Front to Back reconciliation, identifying operational risk, trade affirmation and broker reconciliations
- Reconcile exchange positions between trade capture system and the Futures Clearing Merchant.
- Assist in the monitoring processes for corporate exchange position limits and internal allocations.
- Develop and implement business initiatives, client solutions, and/or projects affiliated with transaction capture
- Analyze issues with transaction capture and related functions where direction is needed, and actions must be recommended / taken
- Develop and implement business plans, policies and procedures and support internal and external clients
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, client service, control, and cost reduction and implement improvements
- Conduct discovery and due diligence activities with clients to solve complex client queries
- Review, expand and report on controls including transaction amendment, cancelation and corrections; various controls related to regulatory requirements for swap dealers including SDR reporting timeliness, mid-marks and ISDA protocol.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability
- Report market risk for various trading portfolios and monitor relative to authorized limits on a daily basis
- Document transaction modeling, trade capture, and deal maintenance for complex structured transactions
Qualifications:
- 6-10 years of experience in a related role
- Subject Matter Expert in multiple or specific skill sets, business areas or products preferred
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and statistical skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage to deadlines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Attention to detail and intermediate problem solving skills
- Experience with derivative trade capture systems, preferably Endur Openlink
- Detail oriented
- Assertive, self-directed work ethic
- Good interpersonal and relationship building skills; must be able to partner across the spectrum of Front Office, Middle Office, IT, Product Control, Compliance, Legal and Regulatory in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Education:
- Bachelors degree/University degree or equivalent experience
