Overview
The Bañobre Research Group focuses on the development of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches towards an early and unequivocal diagnosis and treatment of cancer, inflammatory and neurological diseases. We’re looking for a Research Assistant to join our team in the Development of Sustainable Synthesis of Magnetic Nanomaterials and Clusters for Biomedical Applications, within the CInTech Agenda, under the PRR framework.
Job Duties
The job duties will be the following:
- Assist research activities related to the synthesis of nanoparticles, nanocarriers and nanoformulations;
- Assist research activities related to the chemical functionalisation of nanoparticles, nanocarriers and nanoformulations;
- Perform advanced technical physico-chemical analysis and characterisation of developed products;
- Perform advanced functional magnetic characterisation of developed products;
- Deliver regular progress report writing and presentations;
- Attend consortium meetings.
Mandatory Qualifications
Education
- MSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, Pharmacy or equivalent.
Experience and Technical Skills
- Experience in nanotechnology/nanomedicine research;
- Hands-on experience on synthesis and characterisation of nanomaterials (e.g., magnetic metal transition oxide NPs, magnetic clusters, nanocomposites, among others);
- Experience on the functionalisation of nanostructures (e.g., proteins, peptides, polymers);
- Experience with advanced physicochemical characterisation technologies (i.e., DLS, zeta-potential, UV-VIS, FTIR, TEM, SEM, ICP, TGA, HPLC, VSM, SQUID, MRI, magnetic hyperthermia);
- Knowledge of nanomagnetism foundations, magnetic behaviours of nanomaterials and their applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with green and sustainable wet-chemistry synthesis methodologies of nanomaterials;
- Knowledge on Quality- and Safe-by-Design principles applied to the fabrication and scale-up of nanomaterials and nanoformulations;
- Experience with drug delivery systems;
- Experience with advanced magnetic characterisation techniques, such as squid, MRI, magnetic hyperthermia;
- Hands on experience with cell culture, 2D/3D in vitro models and in vitro characterisation assays;
- Experience with the implementation of Safety protocols and procedures in Chemistry/Biology oriented labs;
- Previous participation in collaborative national, international and/or industrial researc
