Dentsu is the holding company of a diverse portfolio of marketing agencies that innovate the way brands are built and experienced. Our corporate head office for the Americas region is in NYC and we oversee the financial reporting of all our marketing agencies across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America.
Dentsu US is comprised of three Service Lines, Creative, Media, CxM and US Headquarters (“US HQ”). US HQ is comprised of multiple reporting entities, which record revenue and expenses for certain cross-service line clients, as well as centralized expenses for all US locations including for leases, fixed assets, IT, insurance, audit, corporate staff and other intercompany expenses.

Job Description

We are seeking a candidate with a strong accounting / finance background to support our US HQ Controllership team. The core responsibilities of the US HQ Controllership team are ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for the US HQ reporting entities, in alignment with Group Accounting policies and IFRS; maintaining a strong internal control environment; leading and developing the off-shore team; and partnering effectively with internal and external stakeholders. This role will primarily be responsible for the following:

  • Delivers accurate and reliable output from specific tasks during monthly, quarterly and annual reporting processes
  • Supports implementation of global policy and supports regional/local accounting controls, financial controls and compliance where appropriate
  • Maintains a working relationship with other teams and stakeholders in other finance pillars.
  • Provides technical analysis and advice to key partners appropriate to experience, and working within the team to solve complex problems
  • Supports control and reporting compliance including support in preparing technical accounting memos
  • Supports the audit process, liaising with external audit on appropriate workstreams
  • Supports continual improvements in quality and efficiency of financial reporting processes, in collaboration with the wider finance team
  • Managing the month-end financial close process for the US HQ reporting entities, including partnering with the offshore Controllership Center of Excellence (“CCOE”) and third-party outsourced provider;
  • Ensuring timely completion and enhancement of Balance Sheet reconciliations via Blackline;
  • Supporting the annual Group audit and Internal Audits as required;
  • Ensuring compliance with JSOX and/or Internal Control Framework requirements;
  • Partnering with FP&A on financial reporting and forecasting processes;
  • Managing intercompany processes including management recharges and allocations;
  • Assisting Treasury and Tax with all related reporting requirements; Partnering with Operational Finance to support Net Working Capital requirements;
  • Driving efficiencies in the Finance Operating Model

Qualifications

• Minimum of BS degree in Accounting/Finance (or equivalent)
• CPA (or equivalent) required
• 5 - 10 years of accounting experience, with some public accounting experience preferred
• Relevant industry experience preferred (Marketing/PR/Advertising/Professional Services)
• Strong technical accounting knowledge including revenue recognition, leases, fixed assets, intercompany, acquisition and project accounting
 • Experience working in a complex, matrixed environment
• Experience working with off-shore/outsourced resources an advantage
• Strong project management skills, deadline driven and ability to identify and drive
improvement and efficiency
• Strong collaboration and relationship building skills
