Senior Product Manager (Mystery Science)

Discovery Education is searching for a Senior Product Manager to join our Product Management team.
This role will be focused on the Mystery business. This will involve refining a new K-5 writing product & bringing it to market via product-led growth strategies, developing a long-term strategy for the direct teacher trial, purchase and referral systems and generally working on the overall Mystery product line.
What You’ll Do
The Senior Product Manager will own the product strategy for Mystery Writing, a new K-5 supplemental writing product in our Mystery product suite. This includes defining & implementing product-led growth strategies related to acquisition, activation, retention, referrals, and monetization. You’ll work closely with cross functional teams to create seamless experiences for teachers & administrators, while also enhancing internal capabilities & tooling to bring future products to market via a teacher-led sales motion. Finally, you’ll contribute to the overall Mystery strategy as we develop a cross platform ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
- Own the Mystery Writing product roadmap.
- Partner closely with other product managers to define & develop Discovery Education’s teacher-led sales motion – from onboarding teachers via self-directed free trials to enabling self-service purchasing for schools & districts.
- Understand and represent the needs of educators, admins, and students, building them directly into priorities – through collaboration with user research, product marketing, data teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Get in the weeds to understand our existing product self-service funnels - deeply understand the trial and conversion funnel, how to optimize it, and how to apply those learnings to other supplemental products.
- Build and leverage solid working relationships with business and product stakeholders to facilitate successful product iteration and feature implementation.
- Clearly articulate and prioritizes detailed requirements and user stories for engineering and design teams.
- Manages tradeoffs to balance user needs and business needs.
- Collaborate with other product teams and connects dots across workstreams to ensure a seamless user experience across all areas of the product.
- Define key results (KPIs) and gathers reporting to measure and communicate success.
- Monitor product KPIs and ensures success metrics are being met, identifies opportunities for testing and product enhancements based on results.
- Maintains a prioritized product backlog based on defined business value, aligning with Product Strategy and resource capacity.
- Provide project management leadership during implementation to coordinate release schedules, communicate status, resolve issues, align resources, and meet quality standards.
Requirements
- You have a passion for education and the DE company mission.
- You have worked on a software product that was built or adapted to use product-led growth techniques - self-directed trials and onboarding, conversion, and expansion over time.
- You have experience driving 0->1 product development, bringing new products & features successfully to market.
- You are willing to wear many hats and be a team player across various responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- You have experience with analyzing data and customer feedback to draw conclusions and create narratives.
- You can analyze industry trends and competitor behavior.
- You can prioritize work based on a set of goals and understanding of impact in the market.
- You have experience working on a product team. 5 years of experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
- You’re comfortable working through the ambiguity that comes with new product development.
- You can grasp technical concepts and communicate with engineering, design, and curriculum teams.
- You have excellent communication skills.
- You have experience in the education industry.
- You are always willing to learn something new, not rigid in beliefs or expectations.
- You have a demonstrated ability to understand, accept and engage with people of diverse backgrounds.
- You have a sense of humor because we all need to laugh sometimes.
