This position is tasked with expanding and enhancing College of Social Work specific initiatives to support and retain students from admission to graduation, with a dedicated focus on student success and wellbeing. Working in partnership with the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs, this position is responsible for identifying and advancing student success initiatives and services; evaluating the effectiveness of student success programming; connecting students with needed university and community-based resources; and collaborating with Academic Affairs and Career Services program offices to enhance overall student satisfaction and outcomes. Attention will be given to cultivating student success initiatives that address the unique transition needs of transfer students and first-generation students and enhancing community and connection for online students. This position will provide supervision to a Senior Academic Success & Enrichment Specialist 3 role. This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Expand and enhance proactive student success services
    • Identify, develop and execute initiatives aimed at easing student transitions, addressing challenges related to student preparedness, fostering critical professional skills, and promoting student retention, persistence and success
    • Build/enhance community and connection for online students
    • Cultivate student success initiatives that address the unique transition needs of transfer students and first-generation students
    • Connect students to university and community-based resources
    • Collaborate with program directors to plan and provide professional development activities to support students who engage with the Performance Review process
    • Consistently implement and analyze CSW student climate assessments and engage in actionable outcomes
  • Provides direct supervision to the Senior Academic Success & Enrichment Specialist 3 role.
  • Develop and facilitate an annual one-week summer exploration program to introduce high school students to the social work profession
  • Attend all Academic Affairs and College meetings as required; and cultivate student leadership development and engagement through co-facilitation of a student advisory board with Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 6 years of relevant experience required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, or a related field
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work and 3-years of post-master’s experience in the field of social work desired. Prior social work teaching experience or field instruction experience preferred. An Advanced Degree in a relevant field may be desirable with 6 years of experience in student services and program management or a related area preferred.
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills desired.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team environment
  • Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail
  • Proficiency in computer skills and data analysis.
