Job Title: Senior Development Engineer
Location: Conyers, GA
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for a team member to join our engineering team. This role will be responsible for new product development and sustainment through the creation and revision of refrigeration, plastic, and sheet metal components. This team member will serve as a liaison between all parts of the organization to develop customer wants and needs into a manufacturable product on the assembly floor.
What you’ll be responsible for in this role:
- Develop ad launch new products following the Stage Gate Process
- Collaborate with Product Management to identify customer needs.
- Develop new sustainable refrigeration solutions to meet customer needs.
- Develop and launch Value Engineering projects of existing products to meet productivity targets.
- Generate concepts for intellectual property submittals.
- Utilize analysis, simulation, prototyping to validate design before lab testing.
- Prepare Bills of Material (BOM) to specify components such as compressors, heat exchangers, sheet metal, plastic extrusions, wiring and others.
- Trouble shoot manufacturing issues on the production floor related to product design.
- Ensure designs comply with codes and agency listings (UL, NSF, DOE).
- Collaborate with Manufacturing to improve operation efficiency
- Write sequences of operation.
- Prepare preliminary and conceptual designs for customer submittal drawings.
- Participate in, and lead engineering project teams and performs assigned tasks.
- Work with manufacturing on process and product improvement projects.
What are the basic qualifications?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 5-8 years of engineering experience.
- 3 to 5 years refrigeration industry experience.
What are the preferred qualifications?
- Preferred MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Preferred CO2 refrigeration experience.
- Preferred VAVE experience.
- Preferred experience working with manufacturing facilities.
- Experience with Green refrigeration technologies a plus.
- Experience with refrigeration components sizing theory and practical application to customer specified options & designs.
- Project management experience in designing, testing, and launching new products.
To be a great fit for the role:
- 3D CAD expertise as well as PLM experience (Solid Works & Enovia preferred).
- Experience with solid modeling in production environment is desirable.
- Hands-on experience in a fast-paced, customized manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience reviewing mechanical designs for improvements.
- Intermediate technical skills.
- Good problem-solving skills with a drive for results.
- Good written and verbal skills.
- Basic project management skills.
- Ability to build peer relationships as well as work independently.
- Must be action oriented, ethical in value, and have a strong customer focus.
- FEA experience desirable.
