Temporary Senior Commencement Specialist (Part-time)

Position Summary

The Senior Commencement Coordinator will provide support to National University’s commencement activities. Assists with the planning and execution of the check-in process, line-up process, and other miscellaneous logistics related to the University’s commencement program as communicated from time-to-time by the University. Coordinates aspects of the commencement ceremony as assigned to ensure a seamless and memorable experience for graduates, their families, faculty, staff, and guests.

Essential Functions:

• Train and lead volunteers in the Grad seating, line-up, and stage flow during set-up training and the day of the event.
• Train and lead volunteers in the field set-up (i.e., gonfalons, water bottles, programs, etc.).
• Assist with set-up where needed within Petco Park in San Diego, CA, in preparation for commencement.
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Train and supervise volunteers in areas assigned.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of related experience required.
• Experience in event planning and coordination, particularly for large-scale ceremonies, preferred.
• Experience in higher education or community relations preferred.
• All skills, abilities and education will be considered for minimum qualifications.

Competencies/Technical/Functional Skills:

• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Experience in event coordination.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to accuracy.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Ability to coordinate and collaborate at various levels throughout the University.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and other applications in the Microsoft Office suite.

Location: Hybrid

Travel: Some Travel Required within San Diego, California

Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies.  Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary within this range for this position. The minimum salary will be offered based on the minimum exemption threshold based on state of residency.
