Senior Software Engineer

WINGS ICT Solutions is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, to design and implement new systems and features, as well as modify and maintain existing systems for adaptation to business and/or technology changes.

The Senior Software Engineer will engage with development teams, technical delivery teams, and product managers to ensure the successful design, development, and delivery of our solutions and products.

What will you be doing:

• Serve as a technical lead contributing to and directing the efforts of development teams,
• Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the existing portfolio of applications and products,
• Design, develop and maintain creative, innovative and scalable software platforms and applications,
• Examine and maintain existing platforms and applications, identifying flaws and creating solutions for improvements (such as improve service uptime and time-to-resolve) through monitoring and automated remediation,
• Develop well-designed, efficient, and testable code, regularly checked for continuous integration,
• Ensure high quality and the timely completion of projects, task planning, estimation, scheduling, and staffing,
• Be aware of performance issues and provide solutions,
• Apply agile approach,
• Be in close collaboration with product managers for new features and architect/develop solutions as per the requirements provided,
• Determine process improvements, best practices, and develop new processes.

Requirements

Educational requirements:

• Bachelor’s & MSc Degrees in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information and Communications Technologies, Network Engineering, or similar.

Necessary skills:

• Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer
• Broad experience in designing, programming, and implementing software applications/ products
• Ability to provide in-depth evaluation and analysis of complex technological issues.
• Demonstrated ability in team leadership
• Excellent organization and time management skills
• Hands-on experience with agile/scrum development cycles from concept to production
• Knowledge of RESTful API design principles
  
  
  
  
  

Essential technical skills:

• In-depth knowledge of at least one backend programming language (preferably Java or Python).
• In-depth knowledge of at least one backend framework (preferably Spring Boot or Java Spark for Java, Django for Python).
• Experience in relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Experience with Development in cloud (or Virtual) environments, such as AWS.
• Knowledge of or experience with Kafka or data pipelines
• At least two years of experience with Docker, and/or cloud deployment technologies
• Experience with container networking on Docker.
