Are you passionate about shaping the future of emergency medical services? Indian River State College (IRSC) is looking for a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Master Instructor – Emergency Medical Services. This role offers the opportunity to inspire and educate the next generation of EMTs and paramedics while overseeing their clinical rotations and liaising with clinical sites.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under general guidelines, this position involves teaching EMT and Paramedic courses, overseeing student clinical rotations, and liaising with clinical sites. Responsibilities include evaluating student progress, maintaining records, supporting student success, participating in faculty meetings and college committees, and coordinating specialty certifications.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instruct courses including lectures, laboratories, and clinical rotations to meet the objectives and goals of the EMT and Paramedic curricula. This may involve instructing at any of the five IRSC campuses.
Oversee the preparation, assignment, and supervision of students during clinical rotations, including hospital, mental health, EMS providers, and health department settings.
Evaluate student progress using various methodologies and maintain accurate student records.
Act as a liaison between Indian River State College and affiliating clinical sites.
Support student success through counseling, advising, and assisting individual students.
Engage in recruitment, retention, completion, and placement activities, as well as orientation and mentoring of adjunct faculty.
Participate in Department, Division, and general faculty meetings, College committee activities, and other forms of college services.
Serve on the EMS Advisory Committee.
Actively participate in professional activities such as curriculum planning, accreditation processes, syllabus writing, examination development, textbook selection, program evaluation/revision, grant writing, budget input, and other planning activities as needed.
Maintain equipment and supplies for EMT and Paramedic programs across all five campuses.
Coordinate offerings for BLS, ACLS, PALS, and other specialty certifications as needed
Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Services or related field from an accredited institution; Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution is preferred.
Minimum of four (4) years of teaching at the postsecondary level.
State of Florida Paramedic certification.
Current Certification in BTLS/PHTLS and PALS/PEPP and ACLS.
Current AHA ACLS and AHA CPR qualifications/certifications at the provider level.
