Job Summary

The Lead Registered Nurse (RN Lead) plays a pivotal role in coordinating nursing care within Axiom Care’s medical detox and residential programs. In addition to providing high-quality patient care, the RN Lead will oversee and support a team of RNs and Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs), ensuring that clinical protocols, safety standards, and patient care goals are consistently met. This position will collaborate closely with the Director of Nursing and interdisciplinary teams to promote an efficient, compassionate, and patient-centered environment.


Shift: Full time/Exempt (Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM)

Occasional On-Call during nights and weekends for urgent needs


 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a clinical resource and team leader for RNs and BHTs during assigned shifts.
  • Coordinate daily nursing assignments, prioritize patient care, and ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Provide direct patient care, including assessments, medication administration, and monitoring withdrawal symptoms.
  • Review and co-sign documentation as needed to ensure charting accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in new nurse onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing clinical staff training.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to implement care protocols, manage medical supplies, and escalate clinical concerns.
  • Lead or assist in nursing handoff meetings and promote effective interdisciplinary communication.
  • Ensure adherence to state guidelines, infection control policies, and quality assurance standards.
  • Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to the Director of Nursing.
  • Support and enforce CLAS (Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services) standards and assist with translation efforts when applicable.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements


Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
  • Ability to lead and prioritize in a fast-paced clinical setting
  • High attention to detail and compliance standards
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret vitals, labs, and patient assessments
  • Experience reviewing Medication Administration Records (MAR) and care plans

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Current Arizona RN License (required)
  • Current CPR Certification (required)
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card (required)
  • 1+ year of detox or psychiatric nursing experience (preferred)
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification (preferred)
  • Previous leadership experience in a healthcare setting (preferred)

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing and sitting
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
  • Availability for 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays
