Job Description

Brightspeed has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Network Engineer to join our team! As the Principal Engineer on the Network Architecture team, you play a critical role with regards to optimization of our copper architecture. You will partner directly with the Director of Network Architecture to make the strategic and daily operating decisions that go into optimizing our copper network solutions.

This role will help ensure cross-functional collaboration, and organizational performance and help team members deliver on KPI.  Additionally, in this role, you will ensure the Axon platform is functioning as expected. New features and enhancements may be required to ensure we are providing the best customer experience in the areas that are still served by fiber & copper facilities.

The Principal Network Engineer reports directly to the Manager Network Architecture but will also require daily collaboration with all the Operations Support & Innovation leadership team.

As the Principal Network Engineer, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Subject Matter Expert on the deployment of Axon Orchestrator, vEdge and ACS.
  • Sole responsibility for ensuring CPE equipment and network device interoperability.
  • This role will work alongside the Network Architects to plan, manage and develop the CPE and Metro Access Network
  • This role will meet with Operational teams to ensure concerns are addressed and cared for in the optimization methods.
  • Defect/Enhancements will be worked back with vendor and tested through lab.

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Telecom Network design and deployment
  • Strong expertise in Network Infrastructure, Element Management Systems and CPE device protocols
  • Strong experience in Axon devices, Axon Orchestrator and ACS
  • Great communication skills to work cross-functionally with teams to drive deliverables.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Great presentation skills and able to summarize deep, complex issues into executive-level material.
  • Ability to conduct device testing in a telecom lab environment. 

BONUS POINTS FOR:

  • Telecom Lab Experience
  • Experience in TR-69 and TR143 protocols.
  • Wi-Fi testing knowledge
