This program immerses students into the daily operation of a contemporary media and technology company while working side-by-side with Comcast’s top innovators. The student becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units.

Comcast Applied AI & Discovery team has a graduate student intern position available during Summer 2025. We are an innovative research group within Comcast’s Technology & Product organization with offices in Washington DC and Philadelphia that does groundbreaking research to support the development of novel Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning based products for Comcast’s more than 30 million consumers.
Role Description
Potential projects may focus on (but are not limited to):
- NLU and NLG for Customer Experience, both in the assisted and self-service areas
- Few-shot and self-supervised learning applied to text
- Personalizing recommendations for customers in the Xfinity Assistant and other channels
- Synthetic speech/data generation for training audio models
The expected output of an internship is a proof-of-concept implementation leading to a scientific publication and/or a patent application.
The ideal applicant should currently be enrolled in a university PhD program (strong MSc students are also welcomed to apply), with 2+ years research experience in one of the relevant areas and be able to obtain a work authorization in the US. Applicants should also have good programming and software development skills, and be comfortable working in an interdisciplinary, team-oriented, applied research environment.

Core Responsibilities
Potential responsibilities to focus on (but are not limited to):
- Develop algorithms for generating diverse and contextually appropriate dialogues to improve conversational AI systems.
- Investigate methods for generating coherent multi-turn conversations to enhance the naturalness of conversational AI.
- Create simulated evaluators or judges to provide feedback on conversational bot performance.
- Develop active learning strategies to identify and collect high-quality training data for conversational AI models.
- Explore techniques for dynamically adapting data collection strategies based on model feedback and performance metrics.
Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements
- Currently be enrolled in a university PhD program (strong MSc students are also welcomed to apply)

- Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program- June 2 th
