Description
The School of Mathematics and Computational Sciences at Millikin University invites applications for a visiting position in mathematics to commence on August 1, 2025. The appointment will be at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor.
Millikin’s School of Mathematics and Computational Sciences offers majors in mathematics, applied statistics, mathematics education (secondary certification), computer science, and engineering science, as well as dual-degree partnerships in engineering. The School has approximately 60 students majoring across our offerings. Over the past decade, nearly 100% of our majors have secured employment or entered graduate school within six months after graduation. The School teaches many courses in support of the University's general education program and in support of the Tabor School of Business. Qualifications
A master’s degree in mathematics, or in a related discipline with at least 18 graduate hours in mathematics, is required. (A Ph.D. degree is required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor). Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching is required. A full-time teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester, which will include courses such as Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, and Elementary Probability and Statistics. Being able to teach introductory computer programming is a plus. Other duties may include service to the school (such as assisting with campus events) and attending faculty meetings.
