Summary
The Senior Manager, Pricing Strategy will help define and execute the pricing strategy for Illumina’s full portfolio of sequencing products and services. This person will partner with Illumina’s Product Management, Finance, and Commercial teams on all pricing decisions globally and be a subject matter expert on all matters related to pricing strategy, implementation, and data.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of pricing programs and policies related to list price setting and discount management globally
- Work closely with the product management organizations to understand the product roadmap and define the future pricing strategy to target specific customer segments
- Develop pricing analytics models to measure pricing performance and inform list price and discounting strategy
- Design and lead qualitative and quantitative sales and customer research to test strategy hypothesis on pricing and discounting
- Innovate and implement commercial programs and promotions to capture value aligned to price strategy
- Train cross-functional teams on pricing and discounting theory and best practices
- Collaborate on regional activities to drive pricing and revenue opportunities and facilitate alignment of initiatives consistent with global goals
- Develop recommendations and influence senior executives to gain alignment on pricing and discounting recommendations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
- Strong ability to create, articulate, and present a persuasive recommendation regarding pricing proposals to key stakeholders within a highly cross-functional, matrixed organization
- 7+ years of experience in pricing, finance, marketing, or commercial operations.
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills with ability to tie detailed analysis to overarching strategies
- Strong initiative, problem-solving ability, and sense of ownership to develop the best solution amidst strong differences of stakeholders’ views
- Ability to translate pricing strategies to practical pricing conversations with regional leaders
- Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to influence at all levels across a matrixed organization, including Executive Level. Communicate complex ideas in simple to understand terms
- Passion for the role genomics will play in improving human health
- Willing to travel based on business and training needs (up to 20%)
