Job Description

The Water & Wastewater Operations Assistant will operate, monitor, and maintain the water & wastewater plants, water distribution center, and sewer collection system. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Assist in daily operational and maintenance tasks as required by local, state, and federal permits and regulations. 
•  Assist with system maintenance, emergency response, chemical orders, and deliveries. 
• Perform specialized maintenance such as water system flushing, collection system cleaning, and equipment installation. 
• Assist with inspection, installation, maintenance and repair of the physical plants, pump stations, and all components. 
• Collect and analyze meter data, respond to customer trouble reports, and process new service orders. 
• Maintain buildings and grounds around water & wastewater facilities. 
• Mandatory on-call rotation for emergencies.  

Qualifications

Knowledge of: 

• Local, state, and federal regulatory requirements for water & wastewater systems. 
• Sampling and testing procedures. 
• Proper system operation methods. 

Skill in: 

• Troubleshooting mechanical equipment.
• Oral and written communication. 
•  Completing multiple tasks at once.

Ability to: 

• Work independently to make decisions and meet deadlines. 
•  Travel in and out of state for training and industry meetings.
• Professionally communicate with coworkers, customers, and vendors. 

Education & Experience: 

• High School diploma or equivalent is required. 
• Possess a valid Indiana Drivers License.
• Industry knowledge is preferred.
