The Role at a Glance
We are excited to bring on an AVP, Absence, Disability, Life, Regional/National Markets role in our Workplace Solutions business line to work remote or hybrid from Radnor PA, Omaha NE, Fort Wayne IN or Charlotte NC offices.
In this role you will provide strategic leadership to drive effective market intelligence analysis, product strategy and development, and life-cycle management of nonmedical insurance products, including Disability, Absence, Life, and Worksite products. They are responsible for developing strategy and leading constant improvement in product innovation, business development and coordinating with Distribution and other senior leaders on expansion into existing, new, tangent or underdeveloped markets.
What you'll be doing
- Leads engagement with a broad network of industry contacts to gain knowledge on insurance segments & activity, carrier development, and trends to inform and shape business strategy
- Collaborates with Distribution leaders to initiate and develop the highly complex business strategy for expansion into existing, new and/or tangent markets while diversifying and managing the GP product portfolio
- Defines and drives department strategy and road-map and ensures it fits within the overall Product Solutions and GP strategy
- Partners with pricing and business line leaders to analyze impacts of strategic solutions and overall acceptance and awareness of innovative development
- Provides highly specialized expertise to internal stakeholders through an advanced understanding of enterprise wide risk exposures and characteristics of new product development
- Prepares compelling business rationales and presents recommendations to business executives to contribute to development of key business initiatives including new products, business ventures and/or innovative development efforts
- Provides strategic leadership and direction for all new product development and ongoing product management for non-medical insurance products, including Absence, Disability, Life & Worksite products
- Oversees the entire product life cycle, from strategic planning and prioritization, to product launch and implementation, and post-implementation monitoring
- Provides strategic guidance for financial planning process and evaluation of product performance
- Partners with the IT and other business operational areas to promote high quality development & implementation of technology solutions
- Directs team to conduct research and analysis to identify and quantify business opportunities; presents findings and recommendations to senior and executive leaders
- Directs their assigned area to keep current on regulatory changes that impact the product line; oversees collaboration with internal resources to ensure products remain compliant with legislation & regulations
- Ensures their assigned area performs duties in compliance with all state & federal regulations & guidelines, and in conformance with professional & ethical standards
What we’re looking for
Must-haves:
- 10+ Years of Group product development and/or product management experience
- 3+ years of managerial, strategy, and influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience
- Proven experience developing and delivering on product roadmaps
- 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Deep knowledge of Product Development and Management best practices
- Deep knowledge of Group Protection products and services, particularly leave management
- Deep understanding of plan design, process and funding as it relates to all benefit plans
- Deep understanding for best practices of other services providers within competitive benefits offerings
- Deep understanding of group benefits plan designs, process and funding as it relates to all benefit plans
- Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches
Nice-to-haves:
- Supplemental Health product development or management experience
