About the role

Description

 

Job Duties:

• Manage projects to improve plant engineering operations: drive plant engineering efforts to maximize equipment uptime and enhance production efficiency.

• Oversee facility planning: manage the planning and execution of modifications or new installations, handling all aspects from requirements to costs and timelines.

• Facilitate communication with stakeholders: act as the key liaison between plant engineering, other departments, contractors, corporate engineering, and regulatory agencies.

• Coordinate contractors: supervise and ensure that outside vendors and consultants meet project needs and adhere to safety standards, company policies, and project specifications.

• Ensure compliance: uphold and enforce all relevant federal, state, local, and company regulations.

• Manage performance of project personnel: evaluate and mentor engineers to boost performance and maintain high efficiency.

• Administer budgets: prepare and control budgets for engineering projects, ensuring financial management throughout the year.

• Promote employee engagement: maintain open lines of communication with employees and resolve issues to improve morale.

• Enforce safety standards: oversee the use of safety equipment and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

• Coach for safety: guide supervisors in reinforcing safe work practices.

• Drive innovation: stay updated on operational improvements and implement new methods to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

Requirements: Position requires a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field and 5 years of project management experience in a Foundry environment. Alternatively, the employer will accept 10 years of experience as stated. Position also requires the following non-quantified skills/experience: copper metallurgy; SMS refining furnaces; refractory and refractory materials; furnace combustion methods; fume treatment systems for copper refinement; commissioning management; training others on copper smelting technology. Requires up to 5% domestic & international travel.
