Senior Data Center Engineer

Tyto Athene is searching for a Senior Data Center Engineer to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.

 

The Senior Data Center Engineer designs, implements, and maintains data center networking, NAS, SCSI, and Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) systems for USSOUTHCOM. This role supports mission-critical environments and ensures high availability, scalability, and performance while maintaining compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies and frameworks.

 

Responsibilities:

• Lead engineering efforts for data center buildouts, upgrades, and migrations
• Design and implement virtualization, storage and networking architectures
• Oversee configurations and tuning of infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security
• Conduct root cause analysis and long-term solutions for complex system issues
• Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions
• Support infrastructure compliance with DoD standard through STIGs and RMF packages
• Document architecture designs, SOPs, system inventories, and change records
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, operations, and program leadership to align with mission needs
• Lead and mentor junior engineers and assist with technical training

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field
• 10+ years of data center infrastructure experience
• Strong expertise in virtualization platforms (VMware ESXI/vSphere)
• Hands on experience with enterprise storage and SAN/NAS solutions
• In-depth understanding of TCP/IP networking
• Experience with networking monitoring tools such as Solarwinds
• Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity and physical security policies
• Understanding of RMF, STIGs, SCAP, DISA tools and DoD cybersecurity policies

Desired:

• Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
• Experience with Zero Trust Architecture implementation
• Certified Data Center Specialist or similar certification
• Cisco Certified Network Professional or higher
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
• ITIL v4 Foundations or higher

Clearance:

• TS/SCI clearance required

Certification:

• DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role

• Microsoft AZ-104
• VMware VCP
• Cisco Certified Network Administrator
