Job Description
Primary Function of Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and team-focused, summer intern to support qualitative or quantitative research in the Health Policy and Patient Access Research Team, Department of Global Access, Value & Economics at Intuitive Surgical. This role will support scientific research to demonstrate the value of Intuitive technologies with a focus on patient access, social and structural determinants of health and humanistic value. The successful candidate will provide statistical and consultative support to the other members of the team, the department and colleagues from other organizations.
Essential Job Duties
- Develop project deliverables, including models, reports, abstracts, manuscripts, and slide decks, as appropriate.
- Conduct literature reviews
- Fine-tune the analytics according to the feedback
- Effectively disseminate the project results to the cross functional teams and generate meaningful research impact.
We are looking for a candidate with qualitative or quantitative experience.
- Quantitative Researcher - Work and coordinate with analytic projects with large healthcare databases: including but not limited to hospital discharge data, claim data, registry data
- Qualitative Research – Employ qualitative methodologies to explore complex health-related issues, synthesize findings and provide insights to inform health policy and improve patient outcomes.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Record of publications in health economics, health services research, health policy, patient access research or public health
Quantitative Researcher
- Two or more years of experience in statistical programming and conducting RWE studies using large healthcare database
- Strong methodological skills (study design, data analysis and interpretation) in health services research
- Expertise in statistics, or data science, including addressing challenges from incomplete, unrepresentative, and mislabeled data
- Strong statistical programming skills using R/python, and/or SQL
Qualitative Researcher
- Familiarity with qualitative data collection methods including survey creation and validation, interviews, focus groups, or ethnographic studies
- Experience working with qualitative data analysis software such as Nvivo and survey management software such as Qualtrics or RedCap
- Experience in thematic analysis including coding and identifying themes, creating narrative summaries,
- Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders including internal teams, hospital administrators, patient advisory groups, and policymakers.
Required Education and Training
- Current enrollment in a health outcomes/services research, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, health policy, sociology, or health related field degree-seeking program at the Doctorate level. Master’s level students would also be considered based on specific relevant experience.
University Hiring Program Eligibility Requirements:
- University Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program in the Fall.
- Internship Work Period: Must be available to work full-time approximately
