Senior Software Architect, Battery Storage

Overview:

Plus Power is looking to hire a creative, driven and experienced software architect for the development of a real-time energy trading platform for grid-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the technology direction of our company, as well as being hands-on in building and deploying high-performance, scalable, and resilient systems. 

  

Responsibilities 

• Act as a technical lead, responsible for system design, technology selection, and code reviews 
• Coach software engineers on best practices. 
• Design and implement distributed systems, optimized for performance and scalability 
• Design and implement integrations and interfaces for our systems 
• Design, develop and test production ready code   
• Collaborate with Data Scientists to ensure ML/AI models are integrated and deployed efficiently 
• Lead the development of prototypes and MVPs for new initiatives 
• Ensure best practices in software development, including test-driven development and continuous delivery 
• Drive adoption of modern technologies and practices, such as microservices and container orchestration 

 

Qualifications  

• The team uses Python and Typescript languages and ecosystems. You should be an expert in one and have some experience in the other.  
• Strong SQL skills and experience in database optimization 
• Experience in software architecture and distributed system design 
• Experience with containers such as Kubernetes or Docker 
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform 
• Experience in full lifecycle development, from requirements/design to production 
• Strong background in test-driven development 
• Experience in building applications for cloud deployment 

 

Helpful but not Required: 

• Experience collaborating with Data Scientists 
• Knowledge of big data platforms, MLOps, and machine learning 
• Experience in the energy industry  
• Experience with TimeScaleDB and Postgres 
• Experience with NoSQL databases 
• Advanced Kubernetes skills 
• Experience building MVPs in startups 

 

Compensation, Location, and Benefits

Highly-competitive remuneration from one of the nation’s most exciting leaders in the energy storage markets. Flexible, work from home locations acceptable for the long-term, or hybrid work from Plus Power’s offices in San Francisco or Houston.  

The expected salary* for this position begins at $155,000. Factors that may be used to determine the final compensation include relevant experience, skills, qualifications, geographic labor market, and other factors consistent with applicable law. This position is also eligible to participate in our annual discretionary bonus program.
