Job Description
AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Transit Architect for our Rail/Transit Team in our Los Angeles office for significant transportation projects in the Greater Los Angeles area.
JOB INFORMATION:
While the position is primarily for East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project, AECOM has an impressive backlog of significant transportation projects in the Greater Los Angeles area and transit/rail projects across West Region and provides exceptional opportunity for professional growth. This position accommodates a hybrid working scenario allowing for a balance between in-office presence for collaboration sessions as well as work from home on a weekly basis. We are looking for someone with demonstrated creativity, foresight and mature judgment, someone capable of providing technical leadership across all architectural aspects of a Rail/Transit project.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leading the design documentation and deliverable packages, and construction administration with Lead Project Architect
- Planning, organizing, and implementing all design activities for transit architectural elements across all disciplines through phases of design, and construction
- Providing architectural guidance, calculations, analysis, studies, and recommendations for a specialized segment of the Architectural Discipline within the schedules and budget of the project to a team of project architects and design architects
- Manage various size groups of architects, designers, and/or specialists!
- Work with Lead Project Architect on project schedule, work plan, and project budget to ensure that project delivery is streamlined and done in a timely manner.
- Manage various trades for specific projects (mechanical, plumbing, electrical, structural, etc.) in-house or separate non-AECOM sub-consultants.
- Leading QA/QC meetings and efforts
- Provides architectural technical and management leadership for transit architecture including making decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS + 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Licensed Architect
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institute
- 15 years of architectural experience, 10 years of architectural design, including 4 years of leadership, on transit station projects, including the preparation of construction documents for stations and portals.
- Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with senior-level architects and/or designers within the company and with key officials of other organizations and companies and is skilled in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues.
- Strong understanding of constructability, proficient in developing technical details and specification manuals, and a thorough knowledge of building systems and construction detailing
- Expert knowledge of BRT and Rail Design Criteria, Standard Drawings, and details
- Expert in Local and National Codes
- Experience designing large and medium multimodal facilities
- Experience designing facilities with pedestrian bridges
- Must be a self-motivated individual with good communication skills and be able to multi-task
- Working knowledge of BIM/REVIT Modeling and ability to work with REVIT CADD
