Job Summary
Barings’ Enterprise Data Group is seeking an Senior Analyst or Associate Director to join its Client & Portfolio Reporting team. A member of this team will be an integral part of a fast-paced environment where they will support operational reporting and data visualizations, promote design best practices, and develop data and information delivery solutions. In order to accomplish this, the candidate will need to synthesize financial knowledge with analytical, technical, and design skills to deliver creative visual solutions. The ideal candidate has a proven understanding of design, information visualization, and business intelligence, and desires to be a key member of a collaborative, diverse team.
This role’s focus will be split approximately into four areas of focus: Solution Design & Development, Operational Support, Business Intelligence Data Engineering and Consulting, Research.
Primary Responsibilities
Solution Design & Development:
- Design and then Create Power BI and Paginated Reports
- Partner with business and technology to understand BI solution needs. Ask questions to determine appropriate platform, translate requirements into wireframes/storyboards, and make design recommendations.
- Advocate for and advise on automation of manual tasks and challenge status quo.
- Ensure solutions align to Barings brand, UX, and design standards.
Operational Support:
- Maintain and optimize existing internal and client reporting (Power BI, Paginated Reports) estate
- Ensure data availability for business partners
- Respond to business inquiries
- Provide ad hoc data extracts
Business Intelligence Engineering:
- Partner with Enterprise Data Engineers to design queries and model datasets for Power BI Premium.
- Design dimensional data models.
- Advise Enterprise Data Architects on best practices for reporting and visualization.
- Review existing change management standards for BI datasets and advise on policy changes.
- Understand Enterprise metadata, data lineage, and sourcing procedures.
Consulting:
- Administer Client Reporting platform
- Maintain subscription and distribution lists
- Foster relationships with internal business and technology partners.
- Advocate use of BI + reporting/visualization tools and demonstrate their value to drive adoption
- Champion our team as a Center of Excellence for information design and data visualization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree. A major in design, engineering, business, finance, data analytics, data science, statistics, mathematics, and/or computer science preferred, but not required with demonstrated experience in field.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on tabular data modeling (SSAS, AAS, or PBI Premium) and relational / non-relational databases.
- 3+ years full-time Microsoft Power BI, as a report/visualization developer or data engineer
- Expert understanding of DAX: Calculated Columns, Measures, Formulas, Filters, and Contexts
- Skilled in information visualization and a design discipline such as: graphic, interactive, service, UX and/or visual. Understanding of Gestalt design principles is a plus (proximity, similarity, etc.)
- Demonstrable experience working with cloud data and architecture, preferably Microsoft Azure
