Core Functions: 

  • Serve in a collaborative role for the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE), working closely with other key stakeholders to continuously enhance its impact on promoting best practices of teaching and learning. This includes, but is not limited to, contributing expertise in the following areas:
    1. Faculty resources, including content creation, e.g., instructional materials, videos, and related instructional technology information
    2. Participate in Faculty Development initiatives, including but not limited to:  
      • Support, develop, and present at webinars, workshops, and seminars
      • Manage the Faculty Newsletter periodical
      • Support faculty and course developers in implementing WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards, ensuring digital course materials and instructional content are accessible to all learners
      • Conduct new faculty training and instruction via the New Faculty Online Orientation, mentoring, and support
      • Collaborate with IT and/or the Educational Technology team on the choice, launch, and support of educational technology tools and initiatives
      • Develop new resources to support faculty in all aspects of teaching and learning
      • Consult with faculty on individual development of teaching techniques, development of course materials, and other course design elements as requested
      • Assist in analyzing teaching effectiveness data (online course design reviews, onsite classroom observations, instructor/course evaluations, etc.) to drive faculty development initiatives
  • Provide support to faculty, programs, departments, and colleges in the areas of instructional design, syllabi development, classroom management, andragogy, and other relevant aspects of teaching and learning. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Background/Expertise: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field is required.
  • A Quality Matters certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in promoting the effective use of technology in education, with a proven track record of leading successful initiatives related to technology-enhanced learning, teaching, or assessment.
  • In-depth understanding of current trends and developments in the higher education landscape, especially in relation to learning technologies and their evolving applications.
  • Strong foundation in learning sciences, particularly as they apply to adult education environments.
  • Knowledge of best practices for supporting faculty in graduate-level teaching, with a focus on effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated experience consulting with instructors across a variety of disciplines and teaching modalities.
  • Experience as an instructor of record for higher education courses, webinars, or professional development workshops.
  • Skilled in using teaching effectiveness data to inform and shape faculty development programs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and statistical software; experienced in managing databases at the institutional level.
