How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:
Construction Services provides specialized expertise in the on-site delivery of environmental construction, restoration, maintenance, and infrastructure protection projects. Our focus includes enhancing ecosystems to support natural cover and wildlife, mitigating erosion to protect greenspaces and infrastructure, and creating trails and park facilities to promote sustainable public access and green transportation. By integrating ecological stewardship with infrastructure resilience, we contribute to thriving natural spaces and communities.
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing multiple complex projects, while supervising a small team within the project area. The Senior Project Manager collaborates with TRCA teams, project partners and stakeholders to manage as well as plans, develops and implements complex projects with high levels of risk. This role manages critical relationships with stakeholders while providing subject matter technical expertise and contributing to project execution.
Major Responsibilities:
• Establishes project goals and objectives, develops project control procedures and quality assurance activities for projects, and develops approaches to measure and report on performance.
• Provides technical expertise and supports the identification, mitigation and/or implementation of project risks and liabilities, collaborating with Senior team members to forecast potential roadblocks.
• Prepares, in conjunction with the procurement team, procurement documents, contract agreements and evaluates proposals.
• Oversees the work of consultants or contractors ensuring adherence to project scope, timelines, budget and requirements; evaluating performance to ensure adherence to project schedule, budget, scope, and contract terms.
• Negotiates and documents complex project changes involving scope, timelines, and budget.
• Ensures staff/volunteers/contractors, as applicable, comply with health & safety policies, and other TRCA policies, as applicable in various work environments, while leading incident investigation and mitigation process.
• Communicates with team members regularly to assess workload and status of activities, amends work and reassigns staff as needed to direct workflow and accommodate for any situational circumstances.
• In collaboration with Human Resources:
◦ Manages team recruitment, selection and hiring of talent
◦ Manages individual employee development and individual development plans, considering high performing staff and managing underperforming staff
◦ Recommends compensation performance adjustments
◦ Recommends individuals for promotions/transfers
• Ensures resources are in place to manage day-to-day workload, providing immediate supervisors with recommendations for budget/resource requirements to meet future workload and project needs.
• Ensures business processes are streamlined, documented and cascaded to team members.
What will you need to succeed:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
• University degree in Engineering or Construction Management
• Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license
Experience
• 5+ years of experience managing complex multi-disciplinary project in relevant field with minimal direction, while effectively balancing political, community and stakeholder interests and meeting project deadlines
• 1+ years of progressive managerial, supervisory or project management experience
• Experience with Contract Administration and CCDC contracts
