Social Worker – Center for Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health

Be part of an exciting new outpatient program for children and adolescents at NYP-Westchester Behavioral Health. We are opening a Center for Childhood and Adolescent Behavioral Health, which will include an evaluation service, a partial hospital, an intensive outpatient program, and a short-term clinic. As a social worker, you will:

• Work with an interdisciplinary team to conduct evaluations for children and adolescents with behavioral health problems

• Educate families about mental health diagnoses, treatment options and strategies for supporting their child’s emotional well-being

• Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with children/adolescents and their families

• Provide time-limited individual, group and family therapy using evidence-based practices tailored to the needs of youth

• Monitor and evaluate patient progress and modify interventions as needed

• Collaborate with schools, pediatricians, and other community providers to coordinate care

• Work closely with case managers to connect families to appropriate community resources and support services.

This is a full time day flex position at NewYork -Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health.

Preferred Criteria

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

• 3 to 5 years of experience in the treatment of adult psychiatric patients

•  Training in CBT and/or DBT

• Bilingual Spanish

Required Criteria

• Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW)

• Limited Permit (must supply exam date prior to start of employment)

• Fieldwork or previous experience in a psychiatric setting using CBT and/or DBT

• Competency in individual, family and group treatment modalities and treatment techniques appropriate to an acute outpatient treatment setting

• Knowledge base of bio-psychosocial model, DSM-V diagnoses, criteria for treatment of different diagnoses in an acute care setting, behavioral risk factors and of the impact of mental illness upon individual and family functioning

• Knowledge base of community and discharge planning resources and processes

• Experience using an electronic medical record
