Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems (LMDS) has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Project Management professional to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

  

The selected Principal Project Management professional will support the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon Systems (GWS) program’s Program Excellence and Operations team.  You will Support program operations by developing and delivering training, conducting new hire orientations, managing onboarding processes, coordinating event logistics, and assisting with program reviews. You will also assist in managing the reporting rhythm for Operating Unit program/functional reporting and fulfilling necessary reporting requirements for the Business Unit, Division, and Sector (daily/weekly reports, monthly reviews, metrics).  This position will also oversee projects across various programs and locations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

Essential Functions:  

  • Lead Program Operations Reporting and Communications
  • Support and spearhead program initiatives, which may involve:
    • Process improvement
    • Workforce engagement
    • Developing training materials
    • Enhancing cross-organization collaboration
    • Boosting operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with the program and business leaders to identify and address evolving operational needs.
  • Foster connections with program managers and functional staff to achieve portfolio goals and objectives.
  • Engage in targeted projects with program teams at leadership's request.
  • Support SharePoint Administration including design, development, and maintenance of SharePoint.
  • Cultivate a collaborative culture that promotes employee engagement, affordability, innovation, value growth, and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience; or a PhD and 1 year of related work experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and self-manage multiple improvement activities.
  • Experience presenting to various leadership levels and preparing briefings for Customer and Engineering Leadership.
  • Proficiency in technical problem-solving, including decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft OneNote, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10% with flexible work schedules to support business needs
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application and is required to start.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ability to function effectively within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
  • Experience with Jira and SharePoint.
  • Highly motivated to tackle complex challenges and drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience collaborating with MDA and/or DoD customers.
  • Capacity to produce high-quality work both independently and collaboratively.
  • A foundational understanding of Project Management principles.

Salary Range: $87,000.00 - $130,600.00
