Business Development Manager - Remote (Alltrista Plastics)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategically driven Business Development Manager with over 10 years of success in the rigid packaging industry, specifically bottles and closures—to spearhead growth initiatives across the personal care, home care, and beauty care segments. The ideal candidate will come with a deep Rolodex of industry contacts, a proven track record of revenue generation, and the ability to drive long-term customer partnerships. The candidate will need to have a “hunter” mindset and the relentless drive to open new doors at the C-Suite and senior levels with well leading consumer products brands in a markets outlined. In addition to finding new accounts, the individual will have some assigned accounts and be responsible for managing and growing them. This is a high visibility role that reports to the Sr. Director of Consumer Packaging.
Primary Functions:
New Business Growth
• Identify, qualify and secure new business opportunities at new accounts.
• Meet and exceed sales revenue and profitability targets for established accounts and grow our share at existing accounts.
• Own, develop, and execute product vision, strategy, and road map for specific business development projects.
• Leverage and utilize existing executive-level contacts within the consumer packaging market to accelerate deal flow and shorten sales cycles.
• Create tailored valued propositions and solutions aligned with each prospective customers’ packaging needs, sustainability goals and innovation strategies.
• Full ownership and engagement of developing the proposal, delivering the proposal, and closing deals.
• Grow multi-contact organizational relationships with new and existing customers.
• Stays ahead of market dynamics, sustainability requirements, customer trends and competitor activity to inform business development tactics and guide strategic decision making.
• Provide market intelligence, revenue forecasts and pipeline reporting to senior leadership.
• Collaborating with Operations and Businesses to drive business case development for CAPEX investments in new capacity and productivity enhancements.
• Represent the company at industry trade shows, client meetings, and events to strengthen brand presence and build relationships.
• Work with stakeholders to drive achievement of agreed-to deliverables to internal and external customers while being accountable for the final decisions related to product features, cost, and time to market.
Pipeline Development
• Identify, establish, maintain, and continually grow a pipeline comprised of vetted opportunities and are aligned to targeted markets and EBITDA goals.
• Perform market research and utilize market knowledge to identify key strategic customers within market segments to prospect, build relationships and educate on Alltrista services and capabilities.
• Cultivate strategic customer relationships.
• Maintain and update regularly a healthy, forward-looking pipeline through Power BI and CRM tools and regular sales forecasting.
• Lead high-level negotiations and manage complex sales cycles from initial engagement to contract finalization.
Work within and enhance the Sales Operation Process
• Obtain and document information in an accurate, complete, and timely manner; follow established operating procedures and best practices; make suggestions to improve efficiency and effectiveness of existing systems, and leverage technology to improve success (value to you and customer).
• Use workflow software, such as Smartsheet, Power BI and CRM to ensure accounts, contacts, and opportunities captured, accurate and complete to better manage opportunities.
• Work within established procedures for customer service, pricing and other internal departments to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of processes (scalability).
• Leverage technology to be more informed, more efficient, and perform requisite responsibilities.
