JOB SUMMARY 

We’re looking for a Drafting Field Technician (Templater) to join our team serving the new construction and remodeling housing markets. The ideal professional for this position will have excellent communication skills along with the technical ability to provide accurate jobsite measurement and installation information for purposes of estimating the sale and installation of countertop projects.  This position reports to the Shop Manager. Depending on the service area, the Drafting Field Technician (Templater) will based out of our countertop fabrication facility in Springfield Corners (near the intersection of Highways 12 and 19 north of Middleton) or our New Berlin showroom in the Milwaukee area. The Drafting Field Technician (Templater) works a full-time, first-shift schedule, Monday to Friday. Training provided.


 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Travel to jobsites and arrive at the scheduled time.
  • Template designated areas following company policies and procedures and uncover potentially hidden jobs cost.
  • Process measure information in a timely manner.
  • Advise sales staff of all details relating to the job.
  • Act as the liaison between the sales staff and the customer when required.
  • Monitor job progress to ensure the installation meets the customer’s expectations and is being accomplished in a safe and professional manner as required.
  • Maintain general knowledge about all facets of granite fabrication and installation procedures.
  • Plan daily driven route in a cost-effective manner and adapt to schedule changes based on project demands.
  • May assist with countertop fabrication as needed.
  • Follow and enforce all safety policies and procedures

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company guidelines, policies and procedures, and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   • 1+ years of work experience with CAD or similar drafting application
  • Previous work experience in customer service and supporting sales or project teams
  • Previous work experience in countertops or the construction industry preferred
  • Previous work experience using Microsoft Office applications as a daily requirement
  • Must have a valid driver license and meet our minimum standards following a Motor Vehicle Record review at time of job offer and at regular intervals while employed. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without restriction and on a regular basis.
  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing for training and project updates and to independently handle external and internal requests.
  • Math skills acquired through high school diploma or equivalent to record measurements, calculate fractions and percentages, convert square feet and square yards, and understand basic financial transactions.
