Gift Shop Sales Associate / Per Diem

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Gift Shop Sales Associate (Associate) will assist the Gift Shop Supervisor, Gift Shop Coordinator with the sales operations of the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation Gift Shop and the Cancer Center Gift Shop. Responsibilities include but are not limited to selling, staffing, stocking and maintenance of the Gift Shop. The Associate will support the Gift Shop Supervisor and VP & Chief Development Officer of the Foundation with all fundraising initiatives to support the fundraising functions of the Foundation.

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION:  High School diploma or equivalent required, and at least 6 months of retail experience preferred.  

 

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:

 

SKILLS:

• Must possess strong retail skills
• Communicates effectively with a diverse group of people
• Excellent customer service skills that reflect AIDET and other experience best practices
• Maintain a positive welcoming attitude for all guests to have a positive experience while shopping at the Gift Shop
• Be able to work with a broad range of volunteers, guests, patients and associates of different ages and experience
• Have ability to plan, organize and report on Gift Shop operations
• Must be able to operate the Gift Shop in absence of supervision

 

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 6 months in retail sales including stocking and inventory control of small retail business.

-Responsible to: Vice President & Chief Development Officer

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Working hours may vary, with flexibility due to unexpected changes in schedule and emergencies. Requires the ability to speak, listen, develop and communicate written materials. Frequent prolonged periods of standing. Extensive use of hands for writing and use of computer. Moderate physical effort (able to lift/carry up to 25 pounds).
