JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Office of Entrepreneurship and Commercialization (OEC) is seeking an Accountant to support a large portfolio of entrepreneurial programs and Economic Development programs including sponsored awards and endowments.
This position will report to the Director of Administration and will work closely with PennTAP, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), administrative support staff, and program directors to provide a variety of financial and grants management services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide financial support to ensure efficient workflow and processes, including monitoring budgets and processing financial transactions in PSUBuy, SIMS, SIMBA, Lion Marketplace, SAP Concur, eSteward, etc.
- Coordinate budget and spending with contacts from 21 LaunchBoxes and Innovation Hubs to ensure any expenditures to the Invent Penn State funding are allowable, allocable, and reasonable.
- Assist in the management of assigned sponsored awards, including preparation of budget revisions and no-cost extensions, monitoring awards for compliance with sponsor terms & conditions, and other reporting requirements.
- Support the Origin Labs through management of the service center billings and memberships program, including calculating the service center rates, tracking expenditures, and managing financial aspects of the membership program5.
- Monitor financial activities on our growing portfolio of endowments and gift accounts to ensure funds are spent in accordance with the established guidelines and gift agreements.
- Support the annual budgeting process for the unit.
- Assist with pre-award responsibilities, including budget building, proposal review, and gathering of other required documents as needed.
- Support all key grant needs, including those for PennTAP, ensuring timely submission and compliance with guidelines.
- Maintain a working knowledge of financial and research administration policies and procedures.
Education and Experience: This position at the minimum, requires a Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
