Job Description

This position is contingent upon award of contract.

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program.  The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below: 

International SOS is looking for an individual who is an experienced Cardiac Catheterization Electrophysiology Laboratory Registered Nurse to provide specialized nursing care before, during, and after electrophysiological procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort while assisting healthcare providers in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. This role involves closely monitoring patient vital signs, administering medications, and educating patients about their procedures and post-care instructions to promote effective recovery and cardiac health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients prior to procedures, including reviewing medical histories and conducting physical assessments to ensure they are suitable candidates for electrophysiological studies or interventions. 
  • Educate patients and their families about the electrophysiology procedures, what to expect, and post-procedure care to alleviate anxiety and ensure understanding. 
  • Assist physicians during electrophysiological studies, including setting up equipment, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring a sterile environment throughout the procedure. 
  • Monitor patients closely in the recovery area for complications, assess vital signs and cardiac rhythms, and manage any adverse reactions or side effects from medications. 
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care, including assessments, interventions, treatment responses, and discharge instructions in compliance with healthcare regulations. 
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including cardiologists, technicians, and other healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive patient care and optimal outcomes. 
  • Administer IV sedation, monitoring patients. 
  • Demonstrate advanced nursing skills to manage and assist with airway management and resuscitation efforts. 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Three (3) years current experience as a cardiac catheterization nurse or equivalent specialty.  
  • Current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia.  
  • National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to obtain a nursing license.  
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.  

Education Required: 

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or  
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate. 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. 
  • Pass/possess VA Public Tru
