Position Summary
The Education Program Coordinator of Medical Outreach and Student Compliance will play a crucial role in overseeing medical outreach initiatives and ensuring student compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements. The position requires a healthcare professional with a valid medical license (RN, LPN, MA) and a bachelor's degree in health administration. The Coordinator will work closely with the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Student Affairs, as well as divisions in the department at all three sites including Wellness and Counseling, Student Engagement and Leadership, and Enrollment Services and Student Records to foster a supportive and compliant environment for prospective and current students. Additionally, the Coordinator will assist student leaders in engaging in patient advocacy activities, including legislative communication and participation in events like DO Day on the Hill.
Key Responsibilities
1. Medical Outreach Coordination
- Develop and implement outreach programs to engage prospective and current students as well as healthcare communities.
- Serve as a liaison with MSU HCI regarding outreach opportunities that involve MSUCOM students in the DO and PA programs.
- Represent the institution at external events, including health fairs, community events, and professional conferences. This will include working closely with Student Engagement and Leadership, registered student organizations with outreach as a primary focus (see below), and other departments in the College of Osteopathic Medicine as determined by special project needs.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the college's programs and outreach initiatives.
2. Compliance tracking
- Serve as the lead for student compliance as it relates to medical matters.
- Ensure all students comply with health and safety regulations, including immunizations, and health screening.
- Assist with communication with students on academic extension or voluntary leave regarding maintenance of compliance-related actions.
- Coordinate and collaborate with Clerkship leaders and with clinical training sites to ensure students meet the necessary health and safety requirements.

- Maintain accurate records of student compliance within CastleBranch, Exxat, and UPHYS, and report on compliance status to relevant stakeholders.
- Enforce policies and procedures related to student health and safety compliance.
- Coordinate the offering of on-site required vaccinations and testing, including but not limited to influenza vaccination and tuberculosis screening.
3. Onboarding of New Students
- Assist in evaluating the medical and health-related qualifications of prospective DO and PA students.
- Provide clear guidance on satisfying medical requirements for program entry.
- Participate in prematriculation and orientation programs to assist in the onboarding process for new DO and PA students.
4. Student Engagement and Leadership Collaboration
- Work closely with the Student Engagement and Leadership division of ASA to support student organizations with a focus on wellness and health initiatives, such as Lifestyle Management Interest Group, Street Medicine, Community Integrated Medicine, etc.
- Provide guidance and support to students regarding health-related concerns.
- Encourage programming related to timely activities such as cancer awareness, heart health awareness, etc.
- Coordinate with clinical training sites to ensure students meet the necessary health and safety requirements.
- Serve as adjunct advisor to student organizations with focus on outreach, advocacy, and wellness as requested.
5. Wellness and Counseling Collaboration
- Work closely with the Wellness and Counseling division of ASA to support student wellness and health initiatives.
- Provide support for educational, co-curricular, and extra-curricular programs that focus on osteopathic wellness.
- Promote concept of healthy celebration for DO and PA program students
- Provide education and support to students regarding health-related concerns.
