About the role

Primary Accountability
    
The Floor Supervisor is responsible for patient flow, access and the direct supervision of the clinical support staff on the floor during daily operations in the health center.


Description of Primary Responsibilities

  1. Provides support and floor supervision to departmental staff.
    • Serve as a system matter expert and mentor to the team regarding workflows, procedures, and policies. Assists staff with problem resolution and critical thinking.
    • Provides and/or ensures employees receive instruction/training needed to successfully complete their assigned job responsibilities while ensuring compliance with training plan. 
    • Provides on the job training and recommends remediation to manager when necessary.
    • Recommends workflow and procedure changes based on observations from the floor.
    • Gives real time feedback and praise while on the floor.
    • Addresses staff out of compliance with policy (e.g., dress code).  Communicates with Supervisor for higher level follow up with staff.
    • Gives feedback to Supervisor to aid in effective performance evaluations, and coaching and counseling.
  2. Responsible for facilitating efficient patient flow by coordinating the front and back office and ancillary services throughout the health center.
    • Functions as a Patient Flow Master by continuously monitoring patient flow.
    • Is physically present on the floor rounding to ensure staff follows operational workflows and remains productive and focused on excellent customer service at all times. 
    • Utilizes the dashboard and other metric tools to ensure adequate staffing is assigned based on real time patient flow needs to reduce wait times and increase patient satisfaction. 
    • Makes real time staffing adjustments accordingly based on operational needs.
    • Ensures there is communication and coordination between the front office and back office to support patient flow throughput.
    • Validates that scrubbing of appointments is being completed correctly as this supports patient readiness.
    • Assists with the initial and annual skills/competency assessments.
  3. Conducts continuous rounding on the floor, within the health center, to ensure compliance with OSHA, Joint Commission and/or accrediting bodies, regulatory agencies and infection control guideline.
    • Addresses workflow issues in real time and reports trends to supervisor.
    • Ensures daily/weekly and monthly quality controls are accurately completed.
    • Ensures sterilization process is completed daily and sufficient instruments are available and readily accessible for patient flow.
    • Ensures weekly and monthly In-house medication inventories are completed timely and sufficient in-house medications on site for patient needs.
    • Ensures supplies, medication, forms and equipment are ordered and in stock.
    • Ensures monthly exam room checklist are completed.
  4. Assists with handling patient complaints including assisting the patient with a viable solution to the problem.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned.

  2. Two years of professional growth that demonstrates the acquisition of progressively greater responsibility or significant contributions to projects and initiatives that demonstrate leadership skills.

Technical Skills:

  1. Ability to prepare more complex documents in Microsoft Word, including creating tables, charts, graphs and other elements.
  2. Ability to use Microsoft Excel to analyze data, including the use of formulas, functions, lookup tables and other standard spreadsheet elements.
  3. Ability to develop sophisticated presentations in Microsoft Po
