services and programs across the Commonwealth which benefit every Kentuckian each day.
This position is in the Office for Consumer and Environmental Protection, Division of Environmental Services.
The Agricultural Regulatory Specialist I job duties will include:
KDA programs impact all Kentuckians in some way each and every day. We take pride and satisfaction in carrying out the many programs offered by the Department! Selected candidate will work to build customer relationships and provide excellent customer service.
This position is in the Office for Consumer and Environmental Protection, Division of Environmental Services.
The Agricultural Regulatory Specialist I job duties will include:
- Learns to perform basic inspections consisting of weed identification for the nuisance weed program using criteria set by the Division of Environmental Services per state and federal regulations. Performs spraying services for the Noxious Weed Spraying Program using a commercial sprayer and spraying approved chemicals on areas deemed to contain harmful weeds in order to eradicate them.
- Learns to perform basic inspections for black fly and mosquito populations for Department of Agriculture pest abatement programs by identifying areas with large numbers and using fogger in those areas to diminish them.
- Assists agribusinesses with chemical container collection and recycling in relation to state and federal requirements administered by the Department of Agriculture. Collect unwanted chemical containers from businesses who have agreed to host a collection site and send to the proper recycling center approved through the Department.
- Completes operational reports for the pest programs administered by the Department. Maintains spraying equipment and vehicle in good working order.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Experience in agriculture, inspection, quality control, regulatory, chemical application or application or inspection of pesticides or restricted chemicals, or a related field will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Typical working conditions will require travel to such places as stockyards, farms, businesses, and amusement parks. Has close contact with livestock animals in such areas as stockyards, barns and/or barnyards.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
