This individual serves as one of the first points of contact for parishioners and visitors and plays an essential role in supporting the pastoral mission of the Church through professional, efficient, and compassionate service.
The ideal candidate is a practicing Catholic in good standing, understands and respects the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church, maintains strict confidentiality, and demonstrates exceptional organizational and communication skills.
Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church. When this is a full-time position, the employee is eligible for medical insurance and other benefits offered by the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
Key Responsibilities:

As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic church
Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
Welcome and assist parishioners, visitors, and volunteers with warmth, professionalism, and Christian hospitality
Answer and direct phone calls, emails, and office inquiries
Maintain parish records, sacramental registers, databases, and confidential files with accuracy and discretion
Prepare weekly bulletins, announcements, correspondence, and other parish communications
Coordinate the parish calendar, meeting schedules, and facility reservations
Assist the pastor and parochial vicar with administrative tasks, scheduling, and special projects
Process Mass intentions, sacramental requests, and other parish-related documentation
Maintain office supplies, organize files, and ensure the parish office operates efficiently
Coordinate with parish staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers as needed
Support parish events and liturgical celebrations through administrative coordination
Prepare monthly schedules for Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors
Obtain a Food Manager Certification as serve as Kitchen Manager for special fundraising events (Fall Festival, Fish Fry, other fundraising events throughout the year)
Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor
Verify and prepare weekly bank deposits
Maintain parish database, offertory database, serve as Diocesan Safe Environment Coordinator
Coordinate and support Religious Ed (CCD, Youth Group, OCIA)
Mental/Physical Demands:
Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more.
Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress.
Must maintain confidentiality.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous administrative or office experience preferred
Practicing Catholic in good standing, (a candidate who demonstrates a strong understanding of and respect for the teachings, traditions, and mission of the Catholic Church)
Valid Texas driver's license required
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
Knowledge of effective use of technology including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), design software (Canva, Affinity Publisher, Photoshop)
Strong public relation skills, organizational skills, and strong oral and written communication skills
