Job Title: Ski Patrol Lead

Job Status: Seasonal

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $33.50 to $38.20+, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience. 

  • Benefits: This is a seasonal position eligible for season pass for employees/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available.      

Job Summary:

To oversee and monitor the daily activities of the ski patrol. To oversee and monitor key areas of responsibilities within the ski patrol. To participate in the training, development of policies and procedures and supervision of duty stations on a daily basis. To oversee the delegation of responsibility, accomplishment of tasks and assignments, and interpretation and enforcement of rules and regulations.    

Must have a minimum of five year's patrol experience. Well-versed in all aspects of patrolling.    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To maintain skills necessary to perform the job as outlined in the ski patroller job description. 

  • To assist in the coordination, maintenance, and supervision of daily ski patrol operations by managing an assigned duty station and its staff. This would include prioritization of work assignments, maintenance of equipment and facilities, and delegation of responsibilities necessary to carry out any and all tasks assigned. 

  • To assist in the Incident Investigation Procedure to assist with the taking of statements and to interface with related parties and agencies (Copper Medical Clinic, USFS, Summit County Sheriff's Department, and Flight for Life).    

  • To assist in the monitoring and completion of snow safety tasks. This would include all facets of evaluation, conducting of appropriate testing, explosives inventory and usage, training of staff and maintenance of records.    

  • To fulfill the obligation as outlined in the Winter Operations Plan as an avalanche technician. Must be listed with the Alcohol, Firearms and Tobacco Agency for use of explosives.    

  • To assist in and conduct training exercises necessary for staff to maintain acceptable levels of proficiency and certification. 

  • To participate in the evaluation and development of ski patrol personnel. This includes discussions pertaining to personnel issues such as EAP, and interpretation and enforcement of policies. 

  • To provide support for policies of Copper Mountain Resort and the ski patrol department as outlined by the ski patrol manager and supervisors. 

  • To act as a liaison between the volunteer and supervisory group of the patrol 

  • Consistently demonstrates the highest level of problem solving by taking into considerations, guest needs, company needs, ski patrol needs and employee needs.    

  • Consistently provides solution-based improvements for ski patrol processes    

Administration Duties: 

  • Daily summaries of work done and planning for future work 

Guest Service Duties: 

  • Conflict resolution 

  • Make guest service a priority when making decisions 

  • Take part in and formulate plans for creating guest service programs, use guest surveys to constantly improve our product offerings
