A Day in the Life of a Senior Engineer
You lead and support an interdisciplinary team to plan and design multimodal transportation projects, from urban streetscapes to rural trails, that enhance communities and the environment. You use tools like AutoCAD and MicroStation to develop feasibility studies, concept plans, and construction documents, and you mentor others to ensure high-quality outcomes. You also contribute to business development in Northwest Arkansas and across North America, working with a passionate, close-knit team on complex and rewarding projects. We are targeting a salary range of $104,000 to $126,000 for this position.
Qualifications of a Senior Engineer:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering
- PE license in Arkansas or ability to obtain within 3 months
- 6+ years of experience serving in a project or design management role for trails, roadways, or highways
- Experience working on engineering projects in one or more of the following agencies: ARDOT, City of Fayetteville, City of Rogers, City of Bentonville
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: MicroStation OpenRoads, Autodesk Civil 3D
- Experience in cost estimating and construction management
- Experience developing scopes of work and fee for project contracting
- Experience coordinating utility, right-of-way, street lighting, traffic signals, and landscape and hardscape layout
- Experience analyzing and design stormwater infrastructure
- Having a strong interest in multimodal and active transportation design
- Experience in the various stages of marketing – business development, proposal strategy and writing, and interviewing
