Position Summary:
Provides technical support to the Quality Control laboratory by sampling and/or testing incoming materials, in-process blends, and bulk products. Also performs lab support tasks as assigned. This job is a key element for preventing incorrect materials from getting to the next stage of production or to the market. As such, accuracy, precision, and attention to detail are essential. May coordinate and direct the efforts of other Chem Techs and/or QA Inspectors. Able to make limited decisions regarding the disposition of received materials.
Responsibilities:
- Samples any or all materials (Raws and Bulks) tested by the Quality Control laboratory.
- Performs physical and analytical tests as assigned.
- Prepares laboratory solutions.
- Makes limited operational decisions regarding sampling and related activities.
- Reviews documentation for completeness prior to submitting to the supervisor or other laboratory personnel.
- Refers non-conforming products to the Quality Supervisor for disposition.
- May coordinate the activity of other Chem Techs and/or QA Inspectors for sampling or physical testing operations. Creates schedules and assures coverage for assigned areas.
- Assures that all sampling / physical testing personnel adhere to strict GMP during all phases of sampling/testing operations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education:
- Requires two years of college with an emphasis in chemistry or related sciences
Certification:
- None.
Experience:
- 1 year related laboratory experience required, 3 years preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Computer skills are required.
- Knowledge of system-related MRP (material requirements planning) is preferred.
- Use of a calculator, balances, and hand-held laboratory sampling tools.
- Ability to read and write English.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires almost continuous exercise of manipulative skills and walking/standing throughout the shift. Is exposed to minor health hazards therefore personal protective equipment and use of sampling booth is required. Close attention to detail is required.
Environment:
- Work will be performed in a warehouse setting as well as in a laboratory with moderate exposure to disagreeable elements.
Safety:
- The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices, without endangering the health or safety of self or others.

National Target Base Pay Range: $45,000.00 - $73,000.00Ā
The salary range for this position is based on national standards. For candidates in California and the New York metro, the Target Base Pay Range is $51,000.00 - $81,000.00, to reflect the cost of living and market conditions in those areas.Ā
