JOB TITLE:   

Accountant, UWF 

JOB PURPOSE: 
Perform the duties of Accountant and perform high level accounting duties for multiple accounts and/or grants for a large department and/or business operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Perform accounting duties for a nonprofit 501 (c)(3).

· Analyze financial information and provide results and recommendations.

· Serve as resource to university departments and outside agencies; determine project/program compliance and accounting of financial transactions; identify and resolve data input and reporting errors; provide information, interpretation and assistance to auditors and other outside agencies.

· Review and maintain accounting status of special accounts or financial reports.

· Accounts Payable Management: Oversee the processing of employee reimbursements, corporate card reconciliations, and large bank drafts. Ensure timely and accurate bill payments and adherence to organizational policies.

· User Permissions and Approval Rules: Manage and maintain user permissions and approval workflows in the Foundation's financial systems.

· Policy and Process Improvement: Develop and implement improvements to accounts payable workflows and ensure processes align with organizational standards.

�� Compliance and Financial Integrity: Ensure compliance with donor restrictions, institutional policies, and nonprofit accounting standards. Maintain accuracy in financial reporting and assist with audit preparation.

· Stakeholder Assistance: Work closely with campus partners to provide guidance on forms and processes. Act as a resource for financial inquiries and troubleshooting.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain filing system for records; review and analyze financial data relative to university.
  • Attend meetings and coordinate activities with other departments.
  • As directed by supervisor, oversee financial operation.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: 

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education:  Bachelor's degree in Accounting, MIS/Accounting, or Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

Experience:  1 year work experience with some professional experience in an office environment

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:  None

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

· Nonprofit accounting experience

· Previous experience with accounting software, preference to nonprofit accounting such as BLACKBAUD

· Previous auditing experience

· Bank Reconciliation experience

· Database experience

· Electronic filing system experience

· Experience with Accounts Payable

· Ability to work effectively as a team member of a highly functioning team without conflict

· Ability to review and analyze complex accounting situations

· High level of accuracy and attention to detail

· Professional competency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook & Word

· Basic Accounting skills exhibited in a professional setting
