Indianapolis, IN

Pay: $21-$23/hour (based on experience and certification)

Shift: M-F 9am-6pm and ever other Saturday, 9am-4pm

JOB SUMMARY: 

Prepares medication under the direction of a pharmacist and assists with related job duties. 

JOB ACCOUNTABILITES: 

• Receives and verifies written prescriptions or refill requests for accuracy
• Fills pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescriptions
• Maintains proper storage and ensures necessary security of drugs
• Establishes and maintains patient profiles
• Answers telephones to discuss or answer patient requests or questions
• Assists patients at the pharmacy by answering simple questions, locating items, or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information
• Receives and stores incoming drug or other related pharmacy supplies
• Verifies invoices and physical quantities received of incoming items
• Monitors medications in the pharmaceutical inventory to keep in stock medications current and disposes of outdated medications
• Works with buyer or purchasing agent to keep medications in stock to acceptable levels
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED is required 
• Requires Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy 
• Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs 
• Must not be listed on the Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals/Entities 

REQUIRED SKILLS: 

• Requires the ability to measure and/or count out appropriate quantities of pharmaceuticals
• Requires the ability to operate computer software
• Requires the ability to clean and maintain equipment or work areas 
• Requires ability to learn basic language and terminologies used in the pharmaceutical field
• Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Requires ability to learn and execute customer service skills  
• Requires strong mathematical calculation skills
