Pharmacy Technician
Indianapolis, IN
Pay: $21-$23/hour (based on experience and certification)
Shift: M-F 9am-6pm and ever other Saturday, 9am-4pm

JOB SUMMARY:
Prepares medication under the direction of a pharmacist and assists with related job duties.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITES:
- Receives and verifies written prescriptions or refill requests for accuracy
- Fills pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescriptions
- Maintains proper storage and ensures necessary security of drugs
- Establishes and maintains patient profiles
- Answers telephones to discuss or answer patient requests or questions
- Assists patients at the pharmacy by answering simple questions, locating items, or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information
- Receives and stores incoming drug or other related pharmacy supplies
- Verifies invoices and physical quantities received of incoming items
- Monitors medications in the pharmaceutical inventory to keep in stock medications current and disposes of outdated medications
- Works with buyer or purchasing agent to keep medications in stock to acceptable levels
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED is required
- Requires Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy
- Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs
- Must not be listed on the Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals/Entities
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Requires the ability to measure and/or count out appropriate quantities of pharmaceuticals
- Requires the ability to operate computer software
- Requires the ability to clean and maintain equipment or work areas
- Requires ability to learn basic language and terminologies used in the pharmaceutical field
- Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Requires ability to learn and execute customer service skills
- Requires strong mathematical calculation skills
