Building Automation Systems Controls Technician

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Building Automation / DDC Controls Technician to join our team. In this full-time, field-based role, you’ll be responsible for the programming, installation, servicing, and maintenance of Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and Building Automation Systems (BAS) at our customers' commercial facilities.
This opportunity may be assigned to a single site as a dedicated, on-location technician, providing consistent, hands-on support to that facility.

Key Responsibilities:
- Interface professionally with commercial building customers and contractors.
- Program and install BAS and DDC control systems.
- Perform scheduled and routine maintenance on BAS components including front-end systems, DDC controllers, and end devices.
- Respond to service calls (emergency, on-site, and remote support).
- Troubleshoot and repair control systems and connected devices.
- Back up controller programs and BAS computers/servers.
- Use maintenance software to document services and manage work orders.
- Perform system performance testing and commissioning for renovation or retrofit projects.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in servicing commercial BAS and automatic temperature control systems.
- Hands-on experience with Tridium Niagara N4.
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and sequences of operation.
- High school diploma required; vocational HVAC training, associate degree, or equivalent trade experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Experience working with and editing BAS front-end graphics (GUI systems).
- Familiarity with controls concepts and DDC programming, troubleshooting, and modifications. (KMC BACnet is a plus.)
- Working knowledge of protocols including BACnet, LON, and Modbus.
- Proficient with standard computer applications (Word, Excel, graphics software), backups, and updates.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with fume hood control systems and their integration into BAS.
- Knowledge of pressurization control in commercial or laboratory environments.
- Familiarity with TEL systems (Temperature, Exhaust, Lighting controls).
- Proficiency with Metasys BAS.
