About the role

SCOPE OF WORK: Provides administrative support to the paralegal studies program, particularly the Nashua Community College (NCC) campus, through the development, implementation, evaluation, and advancement of course curriculum and programs, teaching effectiveness, student advisement, academic support systems, and program promotion. This position reports to the NHTI Paralegal Studies Program Director at NHTI.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Recommends candidates for faculty and staff appointments to the NHTI Paralegal Studies Program Director.

  • Reports directly to the NHTI Paralegal Studies Program Director and assists in carrying out departmental and program goals and initiatives.

  • Participates in NCC and NHTI student academic advising, including reviewing student academic progress, supporting registration activities and promoting student retention.

  • Serves as academic advisor to NCC paralegal students.

  • Communicates and collaborates with other academic faculty and non-academic departments on issues of mutual concern pertaining to advising NCC students, such as academic policies, registration, and placement activities.

  • Participates in Academic Leadership Council meetings and related activities as assigned.

  • Serves as internship coordinator and advisor for internship, externship, practicum or independent study, including assistance with monitoring to compile placement statistics.

  • Assists the NCC admissions office with program promotion and student recruitment through activities such as college open houses, career days and high school fairs as well as other non-teaching initiatives that support the visibility and mission of NHTI.

  • Maintains liaison with the professional community, including supporting the advisory committee and participating in professional development.

  • Complies with College, System, State, and Federal rules and regulations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the NHTI Paralegal Program Director.

  • Serves on Department, College, and System committees and teams as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university with major study in the field of law, paralegal studies or related area.

Experience: Five years of professional or paraprofessional experience in the field of law, paralegal studies or related area.

OR

Education: Master’s Degree from a recognized college or university with major study in the field of law, paralegal studies or related area.

Experience: Three years of professional or paraprofessional experience in the field of law, paralegal studies or related area.

License/Certification: Valid driver’s license or access to transportation.
