Position Summary

The Lead Specialist Materials maintains the warehouse and stores stock in all Material Operations areas. This position reports to the Material Operations Supervisor within the respective BlueCity to ensure adequate supply of material is maintained for workload. The Lead Specialist also delegates, leads and guides the daily work of Material Specialists within the operation.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Leads, guides and approves the work of Material Specialists to ensure compliancy within the Materials team.
  • Reviews performance and assigns daily tasks of the Material Specialists within their respective BlueCity.
  • Occasionally acts as the Supervisor when Supervisor is off duty, on Paid Time Off (PTO), or away from the BlueCity.
  • Responsible for training and assigning work to Material Specialists within their BlueCity; trains crewmembers one-on-one and reviews all daily functions and activities.
  • Visits other BlueCities to provide training and support as needed.
  • Maintains inventory accuracy and Dangerous Goods documentation utilizing inventory control system.
  • Conducts inventory audits, creates monthly reports, and maintains Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration and Travel Certificates Standards.
  • Researches and gathers data utilizing various programs to conduct daily briefings regarding workload, safety issues and operational status.
  • Schedules crewmembers as the operation requires.
  • Performs duties including receiving, binning, and shipping of materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • One (1) year of experience in material specialist/warehousing
  • Pass and maintain rating and be able to drive forklifts (4 (four) K to 18 (eighteen) K) tugs, trucks, and other vehicles
  • Successfully pass the Materials and General Maintenance Manual (GMM) training courses. Depending on location you may be required to pass an International Air Transport Association (IATA) or Department of Transportation (DOT) approved Hazardous Material Training Course and maintain recurrent training of the course
  • Ability to use handheld two way radios, headsets and/or phone
  • Available for overnight travel (50%)
  • Valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Able to work flexible shifts, travel and/or work variable hours including holidays and weekends
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge for all Blue Material cities
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record that meets JetBlue Airways’ insurance standards
  • Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
