We are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer II to join our Data, Applications, and Platforms Engineering (DAPS Engineering) team at FlightAware. In this role, you will bridge the gap between data and decision-making, helping our organization unlock its full potential. You will leverage your expertise in data analysis, modeling, and visualization to uncover hidden patterns and trends, providing insights that give FlightAware a competitive edge.

As a key stakeholder, you will play an integral role in shaping scalable data infrastructure, developing self-service analytics tools, and utilizing data visualizations to unlock valuable insights. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will collaborate to build solutions that drive business growth and innovation.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles* will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

  • Position is remote; however, if you live within a reasonable commute of a Collins site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and maintain data products that enable faster decision-making, data democratization, and self-service functionality.

  • Own the end to end delivery of reporting products, from gathering business requirements to designing and maintaining dashboards that drive key decisions.

  • Perform analyses on large datasets to explain trends and support machine learning model performance.

  • Enhance the data visualization repository using tools like Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or Quicksight to create meaningful and scalable visualizations.

  • Utilize GIS tools to incorporate geospatial data into visualizations and analyses, providing deeper insights into aviation trends and patterns.

  • Partner with other engineering teams to extract, transform, and load data from a variety of sources.

  • Recognize, adopt, and communicate best practices in data reporting, analysis, and visualization to driving operational excellence.

  • Manage multiple projects and proactively communicate status updates, shifts in priorities, and objectives to stakeholders.

  • Document technical work using industry-standard tools like Jira and Confluence.

  • Monitor existing metrics, propose new ones, and work across the organization to deliver actionable intelligence.
