Job Description
We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) Parts Engineer to provide critical component assurance for our advanced Laser Communications Program. The individual will serve as the technical authority on component selection, standardization, and reliability, ensuring all parts meet stringent program, military, and space standards for mission-critical hardware.
Key Responsibilities
Component Selection and Standardization
- Develop and maintain component requirements, specifications, and screening processes tailored for high-reliability, space-qualified, or military-grade hardware used in Laser Communication Systems.
- Manage the selection, qualification, and approval of new EEE components, ensuring full compliance with technical requirements for high-frequency electronics (RF, MMIC, high-speed digital).
- Serve as the EEE technical liaison between design engineers, procurement, and quality teams throughout the product lifecycle, from proposal to production.
- Maintain and update the master ECAD library and Parts Management Database, ensuring data integrity and standardization across the program.
Obsolescence and Risk Mitigation
- Proactively manage parts obsolescence (EOL) issues by identifying high-risk components, proposing form-fit-function replacements, and coordinating last-time buys to ensure mission continuity.
- Analyze and respond promptly to industry alerts, including PCN (Product Change Notices) and GIDEP (Government-Industry Data Exchange Program).
- Implement and enforce effective counterfeit parts management strategies, including inspection and testing protocols.
Compliance and Reliability Assurance
- Ensure all components comply with relevant military, aerospace, and industry standards, including but not limited to EIA, IPC, and EEE-INST-002.
- Work with radiation effects specialists and designers to evaluate and mitigate the impact of the operating environment on component reliability, especially regarding radiation effects on parts used in space-based laser systems.
- Generate and maintain all required parts documentation, including Non-Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPARs) and program-specific compliance reports.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline, plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in EEE Parts Engineering or Component Engineering within the Aerospace, Defense, or High-Reliability sector.
- Standards Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of military and space component standards, including knowledge of part screening levels, quality assurance testing, and qualification processes.
- Technical Focus: Solid understanding of high-frequency electronics, including component selection criteria for RF, MMIC, and high-speed digital applications.
- Data Proficiency: Experience managing component data and lifecycle within an ERP system and/or ECAD library environment.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
