About the role

YOUR ROLE  Within IFS we are looking for a Senior Accountant responsible to produce IFRS accounts for three AssetCo’s domiciled in Germany.  The Accountant works closely with the operations team to learn the fundamentals of each Equipment as a Service deal structure and apply those learnings when developing the accounting treatment within the ERP system.Managing the relationships IFS has with local regulators, colleagues within the Munich Re group, and banking partners, this role spans a wide range of responsibilities including supporting the broader finance group in areas such as reporting, capital management. WHAT YOU WILL DO HERE You will work closely with the external consultant for local German GAAP accounts and develops a roadmap to bring knowledge in-house. Another key component is to ensure that the team is adhering to all relevant IFRS accounting standards which apply to our unique business model.You will also need to think about and develop a plan on how the finance organization scales as new partnerships and customers are onboarded to the EaaS programs whilst being a valuable business partner to the wider IFS organization.  Typical day-to-day tasks for a Senior Accountant might include:Financial/Accounting- Work with IFS operations team to understand and implement necessary accounting processes as new business models are introduced.- Gain a detailed understanding of the recently implemented IFS Cloud (ERP and general ledger) platform including understanding the specific configuration of the platform in areas such as revenue recognition.- Monthly accounting, including monthly accruals, revenue recognition, and driving the monthly close for 3-5 AssetCo’s that hold EaaS contracts, working with the Controller to meet the ‘fast-close’ deadlines of the group.Invoicing and billing, either through traditional or use of automated payments for all AssetCo clients.- Establish relationships with people both inside and outside of Finance at parent level companies such as HSB in the US, and Munich Re in Germany.- Lead the onboarding of European EaaS customers from a Finance perspective.- Understand the accounting impacts of complex refinancing agreements for the EaaS assets.- Management of local AP and AR processes including refining those policies as new deals are introduced.- Develop 12-18 month plan to bring local German GAAP accounting in-house.- Monthly or quarterly balance sheet reconciliations as required and until the team expands.- Managing local consulting relationships with vendors responsible for local GAAP accounting and local tax filings in multiple countriesReporting:- Work with the broader finance team to meet all local, HSB, and Munich Re reporting deadlines.- Develop operational reports to better inform the wider IFS organization and senior management.- Monthly and quarterly VAT reporting.- Ownership of the Bundesbank reporting process ensuring all relevant legal entities meet the reporting deadlines.- Drive the quarterly consolidation reporting to Munich Re.  This will involve developing relationships with accounting colleagues at HSB and Munich Re.- Prepares IFRS-based financial statements for ECON reporting for actual, forecast, and plans for all IFS entities- Assist reporting lead in delivery of reports to local German financing partners.- Ad-hoc reporting as neededAccounting Standard Compliance:- Ensuring the whole team is adhering to local IFS accounting standards. This includes understanding in detail which accounting standards apply to complex EaaS transactions and how.- Understanding which countries IFS plan to deploy assets and interpreting the impact of meeting any local tax and accounting requirements for that territory.

REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is required
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance is desired
  • 5+ years’ Accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a start-up environment is an advantage
  • Additional accounting qualification is preferred

  • Strong financial acumen and knowledge of IFRS & HGB accounting standards
  • A natural ability to quickly integrate financial data and analysis from various disciplines into meaningful information that drives management decisions
  • Results orientated and pragmatic management approach that is continuously focused on execution and problem solving while balancing speed and accuracy
  • Fluency in German is required as it’s a key aspect of the role
  • Demonstrates the capabilities to understand IFS’s operations, business strategies, and vision
  • Exposure to finance disciplines such as reporting, analysis, tax, treasury, product and investments
  • Structured approach, familiar with setting up new offerings, creating new processes, managing multiple stakeholders, and driving initiatives across different organizat
