Job Description

This internship will begin in late May and the duration of the internship program is 12 weeks. Please note that this is a hybrid working arrangement; some work will be done in our Portland offices and some remotely. Interns must live in Maine throughout the 12-week program.

Employees are expected to work consistently to demonstrate the mission, vision, and core values of the organization. 

The Social Media Intern will support and manage organic social media channels for Martin’s Point Health Care and Martin’s Point Military (US Family Health Plan). This role offers hands-on experience in content creation and performance tracking while working closely with the Marketing team and fellow interns.

The primary focus of this internship includes:

  • Curating and writing engaging social and digital content aligned with brand voice and goals.
  • Supporting campaign brainstorming, content planning, and execution.
  • Managing day-to-day organic social publishing, including content entry and scheduling.
  • Driving follower growth and engagement through thoughtful content and community interaction.
  • Monitoring comments and messages; escalating feedback as needed.
  • Tracking social media performance and reporting on key metrics and trends.
  • Ensuring third-party and partner content aligns with brand standards and guidelines.
  • Assisting with creative and technical execution of social campaigns.
  • Developing technical skills using Adobe Express and preparing assets for digital use.

Education

  • Currently enrolled in a two or four-year undergraduate degree program such as Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Media or Production

Experience

  • Relevant coursework or prior internship experience preferred, emphasis in Jounalism, English, Marketing, Advertising, or Communications is a plus

Abilities

  • An attitude which is positive, adaptable, outgoing, and flexible
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Working ability across a variety of social media channels a plus
  • Comfortable working remotely as part of a team and independently
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a discreet and professional manner
  • Ability to take direction from multiple individuals and prioritize tasks appropriately to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and all internal departments
  • Ability to be a consistent and positive member of a team with dedication to the success of the great team and organization
  • Ability to function independently (good sense of judgment)
  • Ability to provide the highest level of customer service both to internal and external customers
