Position Summary:

MUFG is seeking a senior technology leader to help define and drive the future of AI-enabled software engineering within Business Enablement Technology in IT Americas. This Director-level role will lead the strategy, adoption, and organizational integration of generative AI tools across the software development lifecycle.

This is a highly visible and multifaceted leadership role for an experienced technical practitioner and transformation leader who can bridge engineering, architecture, risk, compliance, security, and business stakeholders. The successful candidate will shape how application development teams use GenAI to improve software delivery, modernize engineering practices, and evolve organizational operating models in a controlled, scalable, and enterprise-ready manner.

This role requires deep hands-on credibility in software architecture and development, strong knowledge of the rapidly evolving GenAI coding ecosystem, and the leadership presence to drive cultural and process change across a large banking technology organization.

Key Responsibilities:

GenAI Strategy and Adoption

  • Lead the education, enablement, and adoption of GenAI tools and practices across software development teams within Business Enablement Technology.

  • Define and communicate a clear GenAI software engineering strategy and roadmap aligned to organizational priorities, risk standards, and delivery objectives.

  • Serve as the senior subject matter expert on the evolving landscape of GenAI for software development, including tooling, models, market direction, and emerging practices within financial services.

Software Development Transformation

  • Evolve software development practices, standards, and team workflows to incorporate and optimize the use of GenAI in the engineering lifecycle.

  • Identify and recommend changes to engineering processes, development governance, and delivery models to maximize the value of AI-assisted development.

  • Address complex questions related to AI-enabled engineering operating models, including code review approaches, team composition, developer responsibilities, productivity models, and product team interaction patterns.

  • Help define what enterprise-grade software delivery should look like in a future where a significant portion of code is AI-generated.

Organizational and Cultural Change Leadership

  • Drive cultural and organizational change required for successful adoption of GenAI development tools at scale.

  • Partner with technology leaders and engineering managers to build practical adoption models, capability development plans, and change management approaches.

  • Educate and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders on the opportunities, limitations, and implications of GenAI-enabled software development.

Governance, Risk, Compliance, and Security Alignment

  • Work closely with risk, compliance, and security teams to evolve controls, standards, and oversight frameworks for AI-assisted software development and deployment.

  • Help define how software engineering governance must adapt as AI-generated code becomes a significant component of enterprise application delivery.

  • Ensure GenAI adoption approaches are aligned with the control environment and regulatory expectations of a large banking institution.

Cross-Functional Partnership and Industry Engagement

  • Engage with central engineering and architecture teams to represent the needs, priorities, and realities of application development teams using GenAI tools.

  • Collaborate with peers across application development organi
