Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a student worker for the Facilities Maintenance Services Department in a Supply Technician support role. This position participates in the procurement, receipt, storage, issuing, shipment, property control, inventory, and recordkeeping for a wide variety of assets.

Responsibilities

  • Procure a wide variety of supplies, services, food, forms, materials, parts and equipment;

  • Purchase orders through the open market, contracted vendors, or informal bids to maintain stock or fulfill authorized requests;

  • Ensure compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, policies and procedures ;

  • Receive and inspect items to ensure correct delivery and completeness of the orders;

  • Pack and return damaged goods and incorrect items; notify vendor of return status;

  • Store items such as office supplies, forms, food, excess/surplus property, equipment, and janitorial supplies by following methods appropriate for each type of item;

  • Receive supply and equipment requests; review and approve for completeness and conformity to procedures; 

  • Locate, verify, and issue items and fill orders;

  • Distribute items over-the-counter; prepare orders for shipping; determine correct packaging method;

  • Load pallets for shipment on transport vehicles and delivery or ship supplies to various locations; and

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno;

  • Candidate must be dependable, punctual, detail-oriented, have excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and must maintain confidentiality within and outside of the department;

  • Candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision while handling multiple tasks.

A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The successful candidates must complete the Defensive Driving course shortly after hire.

Driving carts on busy campus roads along with pedestrians is required for this position.

  • Candidates with experience in Microsoft Excel are encouraged to apply.
