As Director/VP for AI/ML & Emerging Technologies you will be responsible for leading the technology strategy and architecture for these areas and helping to ensure they are successfully applied to drive business value.

We are looking for a leader to join our team who can effectively link business priorities and goals to the opportunities from AI, ML and other emerging technologies, define a vision and target state, and then communicate this effectively to a wide range of audiences, including C-level executives and external parties. The ability to engage with developers and technologists as effectively as business leaders is key for this role. We will look for this individual to help us attract the best engineers to Capital Group and help advise on how to build the skills for emerging technologies and AI in our organization. Finally, we are looking for this leader to define the framework for consistently and efficiently implementing these technologies, including reference architectures for data science environments and related standards.

In this function you will be part of the Global Technology Strategy and Architecture organization. This organization reports to Capital Group’s Global CIO.

More specifically, within this role, you will:

• Lead the definition of standards and reference architectures for AI and other emerging technologies in Capital Group, including platform architectures, model development lifecycle management, quality assurance processes, and the continuous delivery/deployment strategies (A/B testing, canary testing etc) of machine learning models.
• Direct Capital’s existing emerging technology function, optimizing the value from our network
• Provide day-to-day leadership of Capital’s enterprise Generative AI program, coordinating and helping to realize the benefit these solutions
• Define frameworks for knowledge sharing among all of the AI/ML teams in the enterprise and a strategy to train the organization on newly emerging technologies
• Evangelize about AI, ML and emerging technologies to a wide variety of internal and external audiences, including C-level executives
• Network internally and externally with business partners, delivery teams, industry peers and external technology leaders to identify and seize opportunities related to these solutions
• Lead the definition of technology strategies for AI, ML and emerging technologies, in consultation with business partners, product managers and delivery teams. Provide ideas and insights into new business models that could be enabled using AI. Become a go-to-person for executives for guidance implementing AI in their functional areas.

You are a candidate for this role if:

• You are an inspiring technology leader with experience driving successful technology transformations and facilitating change within a large-scale, complex environment
• You have hands-on experience with AI or ML at scale, preferably in financial services, including data preparation techniques, feature engineering techniques, building machine learning models and related ML algorithms
• You have experience using the cloud AI/ML services on AWS, Azure or GCP and building a scalable infrastructure for AI & ML at enterprise-level
• You have experience leading large-scale initiatives and driving change
• You are an accomplished speaker who is credible and influential, able to communicate strategic and highly complex technical information to diverse stakeholder groups and audiences at all levels
• You set clear and challenging goals and are driven for you and your team to realize improved performance and results. 
• You possess commercial acumen, are knowledgeable about the business environment, and can translate key business objectives and customer needs into an effective architecture strategy and plans
• You have a global mindset, and consider all of our operating regions when evaluating impact and making key decisions around technology, architecture, and people
• You have demonstrated the ability to manage ambiguity and tackle challenging assignments pragmatically
• You have an innovative mindset and lead and develop teams by setting the tone, driving business results, investing in their development, and overseeing their performance.
